Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before your first round.
What is Pic by Pic?
Pic by Pic is a free party game for 3–20 players, played on everyone’s own phone. Each round gives a funny prompt, every player picks the best-fitting photo from their own gallery, and the group votes anonymously for the winner.
How many players do you need?
Between 3 and 20 players. Everyone plays on their own phone, so you only need one phone per player.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it’s free, and there is no sign-up and no account. One player opens a room and shares the room code, link or QR code, and everyone else joins with a name.
Do I need to download an app? Does it work on iPhone?
No download is needed: Pic by Pic runs in the browser on any phone, including iPhone. Android users can also install the Android app from our website.
How does a round work?
Everyone gets the same prompt from the category you chose. Before the timer runs out (1 to 3 minutes, set by the host), each player picks a photo from their gallery or takes one on the spot. Then everyone votes for their favorite photo. Votes are anonymous and you can’t vote for your own photo.
How do you win?
Every vote your photo gets is a heart. After each category the leaderboard adds up the hearts, and the game ends when a player reaches 27 hearts. The player with the most hearts wins.
Can we play over a video call?
Yes. Everyone joins the same room from their own phone with the room code or link, so it works just as well on a video call as around the table.
What happens to my photos?
Only the players in your room see your photos. When the last player leaves the room its photos are deleted, and abandoned rooms are cleaned up automatically within about 24 hours. We never sell your photos.
Is it suitable for kids?
Pic by Pic is meant for players aged 16 and over; younger players can play with a parent’s permission. Some categories are marked 18+, and they are hidden for the whole room if any player is under 18 or didn’t enter a year of birth.
Which languages does it support?
English and Hebrew. Each player chooses their own language, so a room can mix both.
